We know that the best aspects of high-quality dental care are related to the human touch – compassion, warmth, and friendliness.
But we also recognize that there is a lot of technology available today that makes your dental care more efficient, less invasive, and more productive. The result for you is a comfortable experience with reliable long-term treatment outcomes.
Dr. Rudolph and Dr. Paino are both committed to staying current with emerging technologies through advanced training and continuing education. They bring the best of what they find to your dental care to ensure that you receive state-of-the-art treatment.
Please take a moment to browse through some of the technology we offer, then give us a call so you can see how it will benefit you.
3-D Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT)
State-of-the-art digital imaging using cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT or cone beam CT) provides us with a clear, three-dimensional image of the structures of your mouth, including root canals and sinuses, without the need for surgery or invasive procedures.
At Vienna Family Dental and Facial Esthetics, we use cone beam technology because it measures the quality and quantity of bone available in the jaw. Using CBCT, we can plan the precise placement of your dental implant before we begin treatment.
This detailed information helps us shorten treatment times and reduces the need for invasive procedures. Since CBCT provides a detailed view of sinuses, nerves, and areas of low bone density, we can prepare a surgical guide to ensure that your implants are placed in their optimal position for the best outcome.
Cone beam technology can also be used to plan root canals and extractions and diagnose TMJ and sleep apnea.
3-D Printing in dentistry, has changed the way things are done in our office. Say goodbye to the days of goopy, putty impressions that taste horrible and make you gag. We have the ability to scan your teeth using our Trios 3shape scanner, then print a 3D model for crowns, retainers, mouthgueards, etc. The best part is that the printed resin models are even more accurate than the old stone ones!
Trios 3 Shape Scanner
No longer is there the need for goopy impression materials that make you gag. The Trios 3Shape scanner, allows us to scan our patient's teeth in minutes, creating a virtual model that can be 3D printed. The printed model is actually more accurate than a stone model! It can be used for crowns, orthodontic treatment, mouthguards, whitening trays, etc... Turnaround time is much faster too, because the file can be emailed to our labs, rather then shipped. CEREC Same-Visit Crowns
You have a lot going on in your life, and it can be hard to fit routine dental appointments into your schedule, much less deal with multiple appointments to get a crown. Nobody wants to spend any more time in the dental chair than necessary, so we offer CEREC same-visit crowns.
CEREC crowns are just as beautiful and durable as crowns made in a dental lab. The only difference is that with CEREC, you get in, get the treatment you need, and get on with your life. With CEREC’s innovative chairside technology, we can eliminate all the hassle and deliver a fully customized dental crown in a two-hour appointment at our Vienna, VA dental office.
We use CEREC with computer-aided design technology that allows us to design a virtual 3-D model of the tooth, and this information is used to fabricate an all-porcelain dental crown while you wait. When the process is finished, you will leave our office with a restoration that blends beautifully with your smile without any of the hassles of a lab-fabricated crown.
Watermark Ares Home Sleep Monitor
Sleep apnea is a serious disorder that can be life-threatening if not treated. The only way to know the severity of sleep apnea is with a sleep study. Until recently, a patient would need to spend a night in an unfamiliar and possibly uncomfortable sleep lab to have their vital signs monitored during sleep.
But at Vienna Family Dental and Facial Esthetics, we have a better alternative. If you need to be evaluated for sleep apnea, we can provide you with a Watermark Ares home sleep monitor. Instead of staying overnight in an unfamiliar a lab, you wear a small monitor on your forehead while you sleep in the comfort of your own home. The device measures your oxygen saturation, pulse rate, airflow, snoring levels, and head movement and position.
Results with a home sleep study provide a better picture of your breathing during a normal night's sleep. Dr. David Paino will send the results to a sleep physician for an evaluation to see if you are a good candidate for a customized dental device that opens your airway and allows you to breathe freely during sleep.
The Oral Cancer Foundations estimates that almost 50,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year. Unfortunately, these numbers are on the rise and only about half those patients diagnosed will survive for five years.
Mortality rates with cancer are high – not because it’s difficult to diagnose, but because it often goes undetected until later in its development. But statistics show that finding and treating cancer early can increase the survival rate by almost 90 percent.
Every exam at Vienna Family Dental and Facial Esthetics includes an oral cancer screening. We can also offer you the benefits of state-of-the-art technology to detect oral cancer. VELscope allows us to see abnormalities that we might not see during a visual exam. An exam with VELscope takes just a few minutes and could potentially be a life-saving step.
If you haven’t been to a dental office recently, you may be surprised to learn the role that lasers play in state-of-the-art dentistry.
Laser dentistry allows us to provide treatments like periodontal cleanings and gum contouring in a much less invasive manner. We can also use dental lasers to treat uncomfortable canker sores and reduce the risk of reoccurrence. Today we even use laser dentistry to deliver the most dramatic teeth whitening results.
Laser dental treatment is comfortable, reduces bleeding during procedures like gum disease treatment, and promotes faster healing times and improved outcomes.
