If you had orthodontic work in childhood that failed because you did not wear your retainer or had always wanted straight teeth but didn’t want to wear metal braces, I can help. I’m pleased to offer Invisalign® clear aligners in Vienna, VA, to my valued patients who want or need to correct dental misalignment.

Orthodontics or Invisalign is often a cosmetic choice, but treatment can also improve oral health by aligning your bite and leaving fewer overlapping places for plaque and tartar to collect.

I invite you to continue reading to learn more about Invisalign, including the advantages of treatment and how the system works.

What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is a series of clear, plastic aligners. You wear each aligner in sequence for a predetermined period, typically two weeks, before moving to the next. As time passes, you’ll notice your teeth moving into position.

For best results, it’s crucial to follow the instructions provided by your dentist and wear your aligners for at least 22 hours daily.

The Invisalign Advantage

There are advantages to Invisalign during treatment—especially compared to other orthodontic systems like traditional braces—and after. I have included a few of these benefits below.

Invisalign Is Made from Comfortable Plastic

Invisalign feels less cumbersome in the mouth, and the smooth plastic does not cut or injure soft tissues, which can happen with traditional metal and wire braces.

Invisalign Is Discreet Compared to Braces

Some people forgo orthodontics because they don’t want metal and wire braces. This is especially true for adults in the workforce or those who spend a lot of time with friends. Fortunately, Invisalign is virtually invisible, so many people may not notice you’re in treatment.

Invisalign Vienna VAInvisalign Is Removable

As a family dentist in Vienna, VA, I see cavities often. Fortunately, with Invisalign, you can lower your risks by removing your aligners to brush and floss your teeth. This is more efficient and effective than cleaning your teeth around wires and brackets. You can also take out your aligners to eat meals and drink beverages other than water.

However, try to wear the system for at least 22 hours daily.

Straight Teeth May Be Healthier

An aligned bite reduces wear and tear on your teeth by leveling the bite’s surface and not taxing specific teeth with most chewing. Straight teeth make brushing and flossing more productive by eliminating overlap and nooks where bacteria can collect.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign happens in a series of steps.

Step One: Your Invisalign Consultation

This initial visit covers a lot of ground. Through an exam, I or one of my colleagues determines your candidacy for treatment. We also discuss potential pretreatment, costs, and how long you’ll need to wear the Invisalign system—several months or as long as two years.

Of course, we always set aside time to answer your questions!

Step Two: Impressions of Your Teeth

If you proceed with treatment, one of the dentists will take impressions of your teeth for the Invisalign lab. The lab will use our models to create your clear aligners.

Step Three: Starting Treatment

When your system arrives in my dental office, you come to pick up the aligner supply. At this time, a dental team member will show you how to wear the first set. From there, you change your aligners according to schedule, moving through your supply until it is exhausted.

Step Four: Don’t Forget to Wear Your Retainer

After treatment, I provide you with a custom retainer to ensure long-term success. The retainer is a way to remind your teeth to remain in position! A retainer worn correctly prevents orthodontic relapse.

Why More Patients Choose Invisalign

Invisalign is arguably the most popular clear orthodontic system available today. Most patients ask for it by name.

Here are a few reasons people appreciate and choose Invisalign:

System Discretion

As written, Invisalign is virtually invisible.

Smooth plastic is more comfortable than metal brackets and wires. Also, you don’t have to visit us every two weeks for wire adjustments. With Invisalign, you come in only periodically, so I can monitor your progress and ensure you’re on schedule.

The Transformative Journey

Patients appreciate watching their teeth line up across the treatment timeline. As you change your aligners every few weeks, you’ll notice minor improvements that provide a genuinely transformative result by the end of treatment.
